Amos was a prophet of God in the northern kingdom of Israel, in the days when Israel was a divided country.  The northern ten tribes were known as Israel.  The southern two tribes were known as Judah.  Amos was a prophet to the northern kingdom of Israel.

He probably wasn’t a popular man, he named judgments of God against the nations surrounding Israel and against Israel itself.
Amos was a shepherd, the LORD gave him visions of prophecy.  Amos 1:1
Scripture does not say how Amos was treated as a prophet of woe by the people he told God’s word.

When we tell others of God, do we stand faithfully giving out God’s words of promises?  His positives of behavior?  That’s the easy part.
What about when we need to warn people of God’s judgment of their sins?  Both the promises and the warnings of God’s judgment are true.  Do not neglect to say the hard things.  Our salvation rests upon all of God’s words.

1 Corinthians 9:24
“Do you not know that those who run in a race
all run, but only one receives a prize?
run in such a way that you may win.”

Do not run from God
run to God!
You can run, but you can’t hide from God.
