Psalm 1:1-6  Paraphrased prayer

Your word, O LORD, tells us what to do to be blessed by You.
You do not give us hidden messages, You tell us up front what to expect.  You deal in transparency.  And I am so thankful.

You do not want us to walk  in the counsel of the wicked, those without God in their everyday lives.
You do not want us to stand around with sinners, those who refuse to believe in God.
You also tell us not to become chums with scoffers of Your word.

But You do tell us some positives which please You:
Delight in Your word, in Your law
Meditate in Your law day and night.

You also tell us what we will become when we do what You say for us to do.
We will be like a well watered tree, which gets a steady stream of water for renewal and growth.
We will yield our fruit in the right season.
Our leaves will not wither and in whatever we do will prosper.
We will be successful.

O LORD, how we need to keep our minds on You and Your word.

Those without God in their everyday lives are wicked, they do not do what You say to do.  Those very  people will be like chaff, the stuff which is around kernels of grain and is good for nothing.  The chaff is easily driven away by a good wind.

For this reason the wicked, those without God in their everyday lives, will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners, those who refuse to believe in God will not be where Your people stand.

Thank You LORD You know the way of the righteous!  and You know that the way of the wicked, those without God in their everyday lives, will perish.

How thankful I am that You are my God, my Savior, my King, my Father… There are so many ways I could name Who You are!
Praise the LORD, O my soul, praise Your holy Name
In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
