Samuel
Samuel was a boy when God called him.  He was living with the high priest.  In the middle of one night, God called Samuel’s name.  Samuel didn’t recognize His voice.

The high priest said to answer God with “Speak, your servant is listening.”  Samuel did and the Lord God gave him a message for the high priest.  Samuel grew to be an old man, and a judge in Israel.  He was a success in following the Lord God, he obeyed God’s word.  1 Samuel 3:1-21

Saul
Saul was a man of thirty years of age when God called him to be the first king of Israel.

Saul became proud and went his own way, not following God’s words or ways.  Saul’s descendants would not be kings because of Saul’s choices.  1 Samuel 9:1-27; 10:1

Saul died on the battlefield by his own hand.  He was NOT a success in following the Lord God because he did not obey God’s words.  1 Samuel 31:1-13

You
No matter your age, when you begin to follow Christ Jesus as your Savior, your success will depend on your obedience to God’s word.

We have two men, Samuel and Saul.  One was a success and followed God’s words.  The other did not.

What about you?  Are you following Jesus as your Savior, successfully?  Like Samuel?
Or are you failing to follow Jesus because you know what is best?  Like Saul?

God’s Word ~ Alive!
2 Corinthians 2:9
“For to this end also I wrote, so that I might
put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things.”

God calls people at different ages to follow Him –
Success depends on your obedience.
