The people of Israel were ready to go into the Promised Land. They wandered in the wilderness 40 years and now a new generation was poised to take their landed inheritance which the LORD promised to their fathers. Numbers 13:17
A twelve man contingent went to scout out the land, to see what the people of Israel were up against in this land. They found people living there, some much bigger than the men of Israel. They also found produce, good looking produce, and big! Excellent place for growing their crops. Numbers 13:21-24
The twelve men came back from spying out the land after 40 days. Numbers 13:25
They brought back samples of fruit in the land. And they brought back their report.
Ten of the men suggested they not attempt going into the Promised Land because of the big people living there.
Caleb, one of the twelve, quieted the people and said, we should go in and take possession of the land God is giving us. Some argued with him, No, we won’t be able to go against the people, they are too strong for us. They were unfaithful to God’s plan for them. Numbers 13:26-32
The people grumbled against Moses, again! It would have been better to stay in Egypt forty years ago! Or that we had died in the wilderness. Why is the LORD bringing us here to this land? “Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt.” Numbers 14:1-4
Faithless people do not trust God for His ways.
They were living by sight, not by faith.
They trusted in the mirage of faithlessness.

Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen.”
Are you living by faith or
living by faith in a mirage?
(something that is not really there)!
