Moses was told by God to consecrate Aaron and his sons as priests.  Their garments were consecrated also.  The sacrificial offerings along with the anointing oil were part of the ceremony of consecration.

When we are set apart to God, consecrated to serve Him, with our whole being.  Our clothing is part of the consecration to serve our Lord God.

First there is the cleansing, we need to be cleaned up inside and out.  Water symbolizes our consecration.  Our clothing is to be pleasing to the Lord when we serve Him.  Have you thought about how you dress to go to church services?  Do you dress the same way to run errands?  Do you dress better when you go to work?  We are ambassadors of the Lord wherever we go.  Our clothing needs to reflect our commitment to the Lord, doesn’t it?

The high priest was given special equipment as part of his garments in serving the Lord.  The breastpiece and the ephod were important parts of those priestly garments.
The turban was also a significant part of the priest’s apparel.  Leviticus 8:1-9
The anointing oil was part of the ceremony, to anoint the tabernacle.

All of this was part of serving God by the priests who were important people in God’s plan.
The pastoral staff of your church are important people to God too.  Do you treat them as such?  Do you commend them, when that is true?  Do you support them with your prayers, words and actions?  Do you “take their side” when they may be put down by others?
We need to support and pray for our pastors/priests, they are our spiritual leaders.

To consecrate is to make something or someone set apart, holy.  Is a person without sin when they are holy?  The Bible doesn’t indicate that.  We are sinners, in need of forgiveness, no matter what role the Lord has called us to do.  All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory… so saith the Lord in Romans 3:23.  This is a very good reason we need to pray for our Pastors/priests.

  God’s Word ~ Alive!
Matthew 22:37-39
“And He (Jesus) said to him,
‘You shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your mind.
‘This is the great and foremost commandment.
‘The second is like it, ‘You shall love
your neighbor as yourself.’”

When we are consecrated to God,
we will love Him with our whole being
and love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
