Genesis 24:62-67
Lift your eyes … to see.
Isaac was waiting for his father’s servant to return from a long journey with a wife for him. One evening during that waiting time, Isaac was walking in the field when the shadows were long as the sun spread its last lingering light. While Isaac was meditating, he looked up and saw camels approaching.
Meanwhile, in the camel caravan, Rebekah, beautiful Rebekah lifted her eyes and saw a man walking in the field. She asked the servant leading this entourage, “Who is that man walking in the field to meet us?” His reply, “He is my master.” She quickly put on her vail and then dismounted the camel she was riding.
The servant goes to Isaac and tells of his journey and of Rebekah.
Both Isaac and Rebekah had to lift their eyes to see each other. We also need to lift our eyes to clearly see someone.
Not much time must have passed before Isaac and Rebekah were wed. Isaac’s mother had died and Rebekah helped to comfort Isaac.
When you lift your eyes, do you seek to help comfort others? When you lift your eyes do you expect to be comforted? When you lift your eyes, do you expect to see God at work?

Psalm 121:1-4
“I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.”
In times of trouble where do you turn for comfort and leading?
