Abraham’s servant was sent to get a wife for Abraham’s son, Isaac.  He arrived at his destination, and prayed specifically for God’s leading.  Then his prayer was answered, what a treasured gift to receive!

  As the servant told Rebekah’s family about the circumstances which brought him to them, and he told the reason he was there, to bring back a wife for Isaac.  He laid out the circumstances of his wealthy master.
When you and I want to be most convincing, shouldn’t we tell our story, because it is ours to tell?

  The servant’s story began with the prayer that he was praying as Rebekah was coming to the well.  God was at work, and the servant recognized that fact.  Do you recognize God at work in and through your lifeThat should be a treasured gift!

  The servant wanted his mission to be successful, so he was careful to include in his story where Rebekah would be going, to a wealthy family.  To prove this, he gave expensive gifts to the family members… impressive gifts!

  The servant’s bold and confident actions and words revealed his growing trust in Abraham’s God.  As he finished his story, he told how he bowed to the ground and worshiped.  Genesis 24:42-48

  The servant asked that they send him on his way, then.  The family was reluctant but finally asked Rebekah what she wanted… she would go immediately with the servant.
  Rebekah’s father and brother said it was up to Rebekah if she went with the servant or not.  The gifts they received helped to convince them that this was a legitimate deal.

  When we are given an expensive gift, don’t we treasure it?  Or we should treasure the intent behind the gift of the giver, even if the gift is not as expensive as we would like.

  What treasured gift do you have?  If you have received the gift of eternal life through faith in the Lord Jesus as Savior… are you thankful and do you treasure Jesus as the greatest gift you will ever receive?

  Matthew 6:19-21
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust destroys,
and where thieves do not break in and steal;
for where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also.”
