But – is a pivotal word.  Uh-oh!  When you read or hear a “but” or “however” be aware!
An about face is coming.

In 1 Chronicles 5:24 the ½ tribe of Manasseh were known as “mighty men of valor”, “famous men and heads of their households.”
Then in 1 Chronicles 5:25  there is that short word that can bring dread, or an ooops! or an uh-oh!
“But they acted treacherously against the God of their fathers…”

How did they act treacherously?  “and played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of their fathers…”  They began worshiping other gods.  They turned their back on worshiping the only God and Him alone.
Didn’t they realize that God had destroyed the people that lived in that land?

In 1 Chronicles 5:26, So what did the only true, living God do?
He stirred up a pagan, foreign power against them – kings of Assyria came and carried those 2 ½ tribes into exile and scattered them throughout the Assyrian conquered lands.  They did not return to Israel.

Consider this  ~

When there is a “but” in your life – are you turning away from God?
Or does the “but” mean you are turning to God?
