Valiant men from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh are listed in this genealogy.  What were their weapons?  Shields & swords, bow & arrows – all were skillfully used when they went to war against their enemies.

Listed are the people they fought and over which they had the victory.
Why did they win?  From their skill?  Did they have greater numbers in their army?
The chronicler records, “for they cried out to God in the battle & He answered their prayers because they trusted in Him.”  1 Chronicles 5:20
What a witness of God’s faithfulness!  What a testimony of their faith in God.

When you are in a battle – whether over the pain you are experiencing, or the battle of resisting temptation to sin – do you cry out to God?
Do you know that God will answer your prayers?
Do you trust Him to give you the victory over your enemies of pain and sin?

Whatever you are battling in your life, today, you also can have the victory through crying out to God, trusting Him to answer you.

When the 2 and ½ tribes won the victory – they took what they gained in war.  The chronicler tells us they took 50,000 camels (that’s a LOT of camels and worth much), they also took 250,000 sheep and 2,000 donkeys AND they captured 100,000 men.  1 Chronicles 5:21

Many men were killed in that battle because “the war was of God.”  God knows your battles!

Then those tribes lived in the place they conquered.  They and their descendants lived there many years until Israel was exiled by Assyria.
1 Chronicles 5:22; 2 Kings 15:29

Consider this  ~

Romans 8:31
“What then shall we say to these things?
If God is for us, who is against us?”

You’re in the army now – God’s army – follower of Christ.
Are you living a victorious life?
