God acts with…
Compassion ~ 2 Kings 4:1-7 A widow woman talked with the prophet Elisha. She had no money to pay her bills so her children would be taken away from her to serve as slaves.
Elisha asked what she had in the house. Only a jar of oil. Elisha told her to send her sons and ask the neighbors for as many jars and pots they could give her and to gather as many as possible. When the jars and pots were all together, she started pouring the oil she had into each jar and pot that was collected. When she filled all of them, Elisha told her to sell the oil and pay her debt. Then she and the two sons could live on the rest.
God acts by using your circumstances and acts in a quiet way with dramatic results.
A childless couple prepared a permanent room for Elisha when he was in their area. One day, Elisha asked what he could do for them. Elisha’s servant told him they had no children. Elisha went to the wife and told her that a year from that moment she would have a son.
After the child was grown, he was out in the field with his dad and men reaping the grain. He complained of a severe headache… his dad told him to go home. He went home and died in his mother’s arms.
The mother knew she needed to get help she quickly made arrangements for a donkey with a cart with a driver to carry her to Elisha. She found Elisha and told him about her son… Elisha sent his servant ahead, but the servant could not revive the young man. Elisha went into the room, shutting the door and prayed. Then Elisha “went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth and his eyes on his eyes and his hands on his hands, and he stretched himself on him; and the flesh of the child became warm.
Then he returned and walked in the house once back and forth, and went up and stretched himself on him; and the lad sneezed seven times and the lad opened his eyes.” 2 Kings 4:34-35
Elisha told his servant to call the mother and he told the mother to take up her son.
Resurrection to life – is always a dramatic story. Even when you ask Jesus to be your Savior, you are – at that moment – given life, resurrected life is promised after you die. The Lord can use your circumstances and act in a quiet way with the dramatic results of giving you life forever.
God acts by using your circumstances and acts in a dramatic way ~
A young girl from Israel was captured by an enemy army… she served as a slave to a woman whose husband was a leper. This young girl told her mistress of a prophet who could heal her husband. The king heard about this and sent a letter to the king of Israel to cure the man’s leprosy. Elisha heard of this unusual request and sent word to the man, Naaman, to “Go and wash in the Jordan (river) seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.”
2 Kings 5:1-10 How did Naaman respond? With fury. He wanted something dramatic to happen. This was too simple. One of Naaman’s servants reasoned with his master. If he had been told to do something great to be healed, he would have done it. Why not try this simple way? Naaman listened to his servant and did what Elisha told him to do. His flesh was restored. He was healed! He was clean from leprosy! Naaman went back to Elisha and said, “Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel; so please take a present from your servant now.” Elisha refused the present and gave the credit to God.
2 Kings 5:11-16
