In the midst of harsh living conditions in Israel, in the days of the judges, a love story is told. An Israelite man, Boaz, who clearly followed God and did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, found a woman from Moab (one who came to follow God who was from a pagan culture). Ruth chose to follow the Lord God and she greatly desired to live among the Israelites.
Ruth loved her mother-in-law (an Israelite) and traveled back with her to Israel from Moab. Naomi’s husband and two sons died in Moab, where they had found refuge from a famine in Israel.
By going with Naomi, Ruth found a godly man in Boaz, they met, they married and they are in the lineage of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 1:5)
When we keep our eyes and our lives focused on the Lord – it will be in contrast to the dark days we live in.
Followers of the Lord Jesus – we are to be light in a dark world. Just as Naomi and Boaz were a light in the world for Ruth. You also can be a light for others to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 ‘Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.’”
Your love for the Lord Jesus is a beacon light in a dark world.
~ Think about this! ~
Are you letting the light of your faith shine
so others are given a glimpse of the Lord Jesus Christ?
