What was the “clincher” for the Samaritan woman to believe Jesus that He was Messiah?
John 4:18 gives the answer: Jesus knew of her past five husbands and the man she was living with at the time was not her husband.  And that did not stop Jesus from telling her He was the long awaited Messiah.  People’s backgrounds do not deter Jesus from revealing Himself to them.

Many Samaritans went out to the well where Jesus was sitting, they went because the well-known woman said, “He told me all the things that I have done.”
John 4:39 NASB

The Samaritans asked Jesus to stay with them… they wanted to hear Him for themselves.  And He stayed there two more days.  John 4:40

NASB John 4:41-42  “Many Samaritans believed because of His word;
42 and they were saying to the woman, ‘It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.’”

Good News!  When people recognize and believe Jesus for themselves, because they heard for themselves!
