Have you been doing your job?  Many times the days may be a repeat of the day before, but you continue to do your job – week after week.

It is important for you and me to mind our own business – consistently and with excellence.

There were some shepherds watching their flock outside the city of Bethlehem.  They didn’t know it but a baby was born in a stable in that city of Bethlehem that night.  Luke 2:4-8

The shepherds were minding their own business and doing their job of taking care of sheep.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a blinding light was all around them.  God intervened in the shepherd’s lives.  He got their attention.  He did not use a flashlight, He didn’t even use a spotlight… the LORD God used His glory to light up the field where the shepherds were.  Besides the light, an angel sent from God in heaven spoke to them!

How would you react?  How did they react?  They were terribly frightened.  These men who thought nothing of protecting their sheep from lions and bears – they were afraid.

God did the unexpected, even when the shepherds were minding their own business… God got their attention – big time!

The angel gave the shepherds words of encouragement:
Don’t be afraid… I bring you a message of great joy and it will be for all people.  Luke 2:10

That same message is for you – today, right now, where you are.  Even though you are minding your own business.
What message should give us great joy in the middle of this Christmas season?

(NASB) Luke 2:11 “for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
