Jacob prophesied about his son, Dan.  Dan’s prophetic future was a “mixed bag.”

(NASB) Genesis 49:16-17 “Dan shall judge his people,
As one of the tribes of Israel.
17 ‘Dan shall be a serpent in the way,
A horned snake in the path,
That bites the horse’s heels,
So that his rider falls backward.”

A famous judge came from the tribe of Dan – Samson.

Many hundreds of years in the future this crafty tribe made sudden attacks to gain territory for themselves in the Promised Land.

Idolatry was also a part of their lifestyle in the Promised Land.                       (1 Kings 12:25-30)

Prophecy does not “sugar coat” people’s choices.  The All-knowing God of the Holy Bible honestly reveals ourselves to us.  Are we ready to acknowledge our need of Jesus?  Do we continue to make choices which do not honor Him?

What does the living God know about you, which others do not know?  Our lives are a “mixed bag” of the good, the not so good and the down right ugly.

What are we to do?

God has provided a way to Himself, and it is through faith in His only begotten Son, Jesus.

God has provided a way to be rid of “the good, the bad and the ugly” of our lives.  The good that we do without Christ is not enough.

So what are we to do?

(NASB) 1 John 1:8-10 “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and his word is not in us.”

~ Take it to heart ~

My life and yours, is a “mixed bag.”

We need Jesus in the everyday of our lives.
We need to keep our focus, our eyes, our motives on Him and His words to us.

(NASB) John 14:6 “Jesus said… ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

Place your faith in Jesus to handle the “mixed bag” in your life.
