Jacob continued to give prophesy about his son Judah… pointing to Messiah.  Messiah – would come through the tribe of Judah… blessing!

This next part of the prophecy is astounding!  This was given before the sons of Jacob had become a nation.  This was given years before they were enslaved in Egypt, delivered from bondage and then led to the Promised Land by Moses.

(NASB) Genesis 49:10 “The scepter shall not depart from Judah… ”
King!

“… Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet… ”
Ruler!

“… Until Shiloh comes… ”
Messiah!

“…And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.”
Messiah ~ King! Ruler! The right to rule!

Does Messiah rule His kingdom on earth today?  No, that day has not yet come.  But it will come one day.

Psalm 2 tells about the millennial reign of Messiah.
Verses 1-3 reveals that kings and nations of the earth will rebel against the Lord and His Anointed One, Messiah, King Jesus.

Verses 4-6 tells of how God the Father will respond to the rebellion of kings and nations.  It tells of His personal choice – His Anointed One will be installed as King on His holy mountain.

Verse 7 gives God the Father’s personal testimony that He is the Father of Jesus, His only begotten Son.

Verses 8-9 is God acknowledging that His Son’s inheritance are the nations and that Son is the chosen King who will have victory over all kings of the earth.

Verse 10 warns the kings and judges of the earth to “show discernment.”

Verse 11 instructs how to approach the King when entering His presence with “Worship the Lord with reverence and rejoice with trembling.”

Verse 12 further teaches why we are to give homage to Messiah – His wrath will be kindled against sin and we need to find our refuge by faith in Him.
