Many in this world suffer from famine.  There are other famines in our lives – having no friends; emotional and/or mental famine can come at certain periods in our lives.

What famine do you recognize in your life?

In the days of Jacob, God used one of Jacob’s sons, Joseph, to deliver the Hebrews from a severe famine.

Today, God uses Jesus to deliver anyone from the famine of being without God.  We can be delivered from this famine by choosing to have faith in Jesus as Savior.

Are you suffering through a famine in your life?  Only God can truly deliver us from the famines which come into our lives.

Joseph’s faith was in the living God.  Looking back on his life he could see that God was at work in and through his circumstances.

Joseph summed up being sold as a slave by ten of his brothers:
(NASB) Genesis 45:7 “God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to keep you alive by a great deliverance.”

When Jacob and his large extended family went to Egypt, Joseph presented his father, Jacob to Pharaoh.  And the interesting point is Jacob blessed Pharaoh.  (Genesis 47:7)

Why would this God-fearing Hebrew bless a pagan Egyptian?  It was because Pharaoh invited Jacob and his eleven sons with their families to live in Egypt during a severe famine.  Jacob didn’t forget Pharaoh welcomed him to Egypt!  It was because of the famine that Jacob learned Joseph was alive.

Jacob and his family were rescued during a famine by God Himself.  God hasn’t changed!  He still comes to anyone’s rescue when we call out in faith to Jesus.

~ Take it to heart ~

Faith in Jesus looks beyond the famine of today.

Deliverance from famine should result in praise and thanksgiving to God for His blessings in our lives.

Never Forget God During Your Famine
