How do you regard people?  How do you compare people who have positions of power and prestige with those who have a serving role?

Whether people have positions of power like a Pharaoh in the times of Joseph – or those without power or position – such as the servants of Pharaoh… we are to treat all persons with respect.

Joseph must have treated all individuals with respect.  How can I come to this conclusion?

Pharaoh had high regard for Joseph.  It is evidenced in his generous invitation to Joseph’s family to come to live in Egypt.

Not only was Pharaoh pleased to hear Joseph’s brothers had come to Egypt, his servants were pleased for Joseph as well.

Joseph’s attitude toward all was probably one of respect, no matter their position in life.

His life was built on integrity, his faith was in God.  His reputation was pristine, impeccable.

Perhaps we should think about our reputations.  What do others think, believe and say about us?

Do we, you and me, do we treat others with respect, no matter their positions in life?

(NASB) Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”

~ Take it to heart ~

Followers of Christ, in a few days, we will celebrate the birth of God our Savior.  And we are to have this attitude toward others… “which was also in Christ Jesus…”

(NASB) Philippians 2:6-7 “who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men.”

How am I showing respect to others, no matter their position in life?
