What you may not know…
Do you have frustration, perhaps fear, consternation about your circumstances that are beyond your control?
Throughout the Holy Bible, the living God repeats His words, “Be not afraid.”
Ten brothers were in a foreign land and at the mercy of those who sold food during a severe famine. Their family’s lives were in jeopardy. Their money was returned to them the last time they had gone to Egypt for grain. They had a realistic fear of being denied food. They had no control over these circumstances.
When they asked him about what they should do in these circumstances, a servant of Joseph gave them a surprising encouragement.
(NASB) Genesis 43:23 “Be at ease, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks…”
Imagine, a pagan encouraging them with the understanding that their own God was involved! The servant knew something the ten men did not. He knew that his master, Joseph, was their younger brother.
Perhaps you are in circumstances you do not understand and it is becoming harder to endure in those circumstances. My friend, you and I need to remember: God knows something about our futures which we do not know.
Living by faith, is faith in the living God of the Holy Bible. The primary “thing” we should choose to do every day – in our circumstances is to believe God’s word… “Be at ease, do not be afraid.”
That is trust, leaning your full weight on your Savior, your Redeemer, your God in your circumstances.
