Years of Plenty…
For seven years, Joseph was in charge of storing grain throughout Egypt.  God had warned Pharaoh about the coming seven years of famine through dreams.

During the seven years of plenty, Joseph married and two sons were born.  They would later become two of the twelve tribes of Israel.  But that was far in the future.  (Genesis 41:46-52)

Years of Famine…
This famine was great and was felt far beyond Egypt.  People from many nations came to Egypt to buy food.

Years of plenty are opportunities for preparation for years of famine.

Living one day at a time is important.

Living wisely is also important.

(NASB) Proverbs 6:6-11 “Go to the ant, O sluggard,
Observe her ways and be wise,
7 Which, having no chief,
Officer or ruler,
8 Prepares her food in the summer
And gathers her provision in the harvest.
9 How long will you lie down, O sluggard?
When will you arise from your sleep?
10 ‘A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest’–
11 Your poverty will come in like a vagabond
And your need like an armed man.”

Purposeful action is far better than sluggish inaction.
