Are you in a position or circumstance from which you see no way out?  Joseph was in such circumstances, yet God never forgot him.  The Lord God does not forget His own.  He used Joseph’s situation for His glory and purposes.  God’s purpose for Joseph was worked out in his life.

Remember: even though you may not recognize God at work in your life, He is!

One day, as Joseph was going about his duties as a prisoner in Pharaoh’s dungeon, Joseph was sent for by Pharaoh himself.  Joseph hurriedly shaved, put on other clothes and appeared before this powerful man.  Pharaoh had two dreams, disturbing dreams and he needed to know the interpretation.

Joseph interpreted the dreams and gave the glory to God.  God also gave Joseph the solution to what the dreams meant; seven years of plenty then seven years of famine would follow.  Pharaoh was impressed with Joseph’s logical, well-reasoned and workable solution for the coming famine in Egypt.

Pharaoh recognized God working through Joseph for the good of Egypt.  (Genesis 41:1-38)

(NASB) Genesis 41:39 “So Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has informed you of all this, there is no one so discerning and wise as you are.
40 ‘You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you.’
41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.’”

Pharaoh then gave the items which showed Joseph’s new position of authority.  With the authority came great responsibility of administering the collection of grain throughout the land of Egypt.  (Genesis 41:42-49)

The Bible does not tell what he faced as he worked with difficult people or the many details in those years.  But God’s word does show, through Joseph’s faithfulness in fulfilling his responsibilities, that his focus and dependence was on God, the living God.

Doing what you need to do in faithfulness, day by day, is to depend on the living God for His wisdom in your job and in your circumstances.

Joseph was elevated to a position of power because that was God’s will and purpose for him.  You may not be elevated in your position but the living God has a purpose for you.  Your dependence on Him through your life, your attitudes and your motives will be apparent to others.

My prayer for you, as you go through this day, is to depend on the living God to supply all you need.

(NASB) Philippians 4:19 “and my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
