Jesus said of His followers:
(NASB) Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 ‘Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

When the darkness of sin is all around you, followers of Christ, you are to be like a city on a hill – whose light cannot be hidden on the darkest of nights.

A light, even your small light, shines brightly in the darkness of night.

We are not only a city set on a hill; but, our light is to shine in our homes.
Our homes are where the every-dayness of life is lived.  Sometimes this is the hardest place to let our faith in the Lord be seen.

How I react when I am frustrated; when I am challenged by words and tone of voice – all this dims my light.

No matter how we are treated or spoken to… no matter what makes us angry – our light is to shine.  Self-control comes into action… we are not to retaliate or ‘get even’ with our words or actions later in the day.

My light is to be shining – brightly!  My light is not to be a flickering light or a dulled light.

My Father in heaven is to be glorified!  That is my goal… not my hurt feelings.
