Jacob woke up from a startling dream.  He realized that it was God speaking to him!

How many times has God spoken to you and you haven’t recognized Him?  Perhaps you knew God wanted your attention, but you ignored Him.

He speaks today through His word, through His followers, through the creation He brought into being.  He is not limited in how He reveals Himself.

Are we listening as we read His word?

Jacob recognized that it really was God speaking to him.  How did he respond?
(NASB) Genesis 28:16-17 “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.’
17 He was afraid and said, ‘How awesome is this place!  This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.’”

Jacob recognized God and he responded with reverential awe (fear of the Lord).  He worshiped God – right then.

(NASB) Genesis 28:18 “So Jacob rose early in the morning and took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on its top.”

When did you last recognize God as wanting your attention and respond with reverential awe?
