Jacob laid down for the night; he was traveling north to find a godly wife.  While he slept he had a dream.  A ladder was set on the earth reaching to heaven.  The angels of God were climbing the ladder and coming down the ladder.

At the top of the ladder, there the Lord stood and He revealed Himself to Jacob.  As He stood there He promised Jacob what He would do in and through his life.  (Genesis 28:10-15)

Then Jacob woke up — he relied on his parent’s faith in God in the past and now his own faith in God began.

How about you?  Upon whose faith in God are you relying?  Living on someone else’s faith?  That doesn’t work, does it?  Your faith in the living God must be your own.

My faith is just that, mine – not yours.  Your faith is yours, not mine.
Your belief in God, your trust in God is yours.  You are to live by your faith.  Do you?

God’s word tells us to live by our faith… aren’t we to be growing and maturing in our faith in God?  Then we cannot rely on another’s faith to do that.  We are to live by our faith in God and not another’s faith.

(NASB) Habakkuk 2:4 “… But the righteous will live by his faith.”

Beginning of faith in God – your faith in God!
