Jesus said to all who pray to Him:
(NASB) Matthew 21:22 “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

Confidence is being sure, without a doubt, of God’s leading and direction for me.

How do I go into this day; with trepidation, dread and fear?  Or do I trust God my Savior, the Lord Jesus to lead me?

An example of confidence in God’s answering prayers is found through Abraham’s faithful servant.  He was sent by his master Abraham to a distant country, to bring back a wife from Abraham’s family for Isaac (Abraham’s only heir).

This servant was confident in the living God of Abraham to hear and answer his prayer of faith. (Genesis 24:12-14)

His confidence in God is seen as he watched a beautiful young woman, a virgin, come to the water well late in the afternoon.  She carried out her responsibilities by supplying her family with water.

She listened respectfully to a stranger as he asked for a drink of water.  She responded with graciousness.  (Genesis 24:15-18)

Many people would have responded with an “attitude.”  ‘Hey, it’s late in the day, I’m tired, ask someone else for a drink.’  She did not “roll her eyes” as a ten year old would.

Her gracious hospitality was a part of her upbringing and personality.

She went beyond politeness to sacrificially giving hospitality to a stranger.  After the man had a drink of water, she told him she would also water his camels – all ten of them.  (Genesis 24:19-20)

The servant continued to watch her carefully – to determine if this beautiful woman was whom God intended for Isaac.  Was this young woman God’s answer to his prayer?

Jesus, many hundreds of years later said in His Sermon on the Mount:
(NASB) Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

Jesus’ words continue to be true today.

(NASB) Psalm 66:19-20 “But certainly God has heard;
He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God,
Who has not turned away my prayer
Nor His lovingkindness from me.”
