Remember!
How do you react to depression, or a “bad” day? One way is to remember the acts of the Lord God in the past, remembering that He is still working today.
(NASB) Psalm 143:5-6 “I remember the days of old;
I meditate on all Your doings;
I muse on the work of Your hands.
6 I stretch out my hands to You;
My soul longs for You, as a parched land. Selah.”
Meditate and consider how God worked in the lives of real people in the Bible.
Creation: Remember the Lord God is the Creator!
God created everything – ex nihil – from nothing, absolutely nothing. (Genesis 1)
Adam & Eve: Remember the Lord God is the Provider of a promise and a covering!
Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command and immediately the Lord God gave a promise of Messiah, the Redeemer, the Savior to provide forgiveness for sins.
The Lord God also provided the covering for Adam and Eve. He provided the Lord Jesus to cover our sins when He died on the cross in our place. This is why we need Jesus as our Savior. (Genesis 3)
Noah: Remember the Lord God provided plans for an ark – to rescue Noah from His judgment!
The Lord God rescues people like you and me today from His just judgment of our sins when we believe in His Son – Jesus rescues us! Who do you need to tell this great good news? (Genesis 7-9)
Abram: Remember God called Abram to walk with Him.
Abram chose to walk with the Lord by faith. We are to walk by faith, no matter our emotions or circumstances or health. (Genesis 12)
Lot: Remember God rescued Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah.
The Lord God’s judgment on the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed those cities. Abraham interceded for Lot. As a result Lot was rescued by two angels sent from God.
From what do you need to be rescued? Who do you listen to – those around you who do not believe God? Or do you listen to God as you read and believe His words from the Holy Bible?
(Genesis 18-19)
Abraham: Remember God tested Abraham’s love and faithfulness to Him.
The Lord God tested Abraham when He asked Abraham to give his only heir as a sacrifice to the living God. Who or what do you love more than God your Savior? Turn to Him, worship Him and obey Him. What is most important to you? (Genesis 22)
~ Take it to heart ~
Remember! Followers of Christ we are to walk with God by faith – this day.
(NASB) Proverbs 3:26 “For the Lord will be your confidence
And will keep your foot from being caught.”
