Abraham was sitting in the door of his tent in the hottest part of the day when three men arrived.  Abraham ran to meet them, offering them his warmest hospitality.  A meal was prepared and eaten.  The Lord was one of the three men and He told Abraham that Sarah would have a son by this time next year.  Sarah was incredulous, she laughed for she was 90 years old!  Nevertheless, the Lord did not take back His promise.  Nothing is too hard for the Lord.  (Genesis 18:1-15)

The Lord then gave Abraham insight into His coming judgment.  He would destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.  Abraham immediately thought of his nephew, Lot, in Sodom.

Abraham boldly and respectfully asked the Lord to spare these cities if fifty righteous were found within the city… and the Lord agreed.  Abraham re-thought his request five different times until he asked the Lord to spare Sodom if the righteous numbered ten.  The Lord agreed.

Abraham acknowledged that the Lord was the Judge of all the earth.  He has the right and authority to judge sin.  He had the right and the authority in the days of Abraham and He has the same right and authority to judge sin today.  (Genesis 18:16-33)

Abraham interceded for his nephew Lot.  For whom do you pray?  Do you pray for family members, your friends, your Pastors and Priests, the leaders of your country?

How do you pray for them?  For those who do not know Jesus as their Savior you could pray:

“But what does it say?  ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ – that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
(NASB Romans 10:8-10)

How do you pray for those who are committed followers of Christ Jesus? One way you can pray by inserting their names in Scripture:
“Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”
(NASB Psalm 143:10)

How do you pray for your Pastors and Priests?  They are people with needs like the rest of us.

We can always pray using Scripture and insert their names.
“Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning;
For I trust in You;
Teach me the way in which I should walk,
For to You I lift up my soul.”  (NASB Psalm 143:8)
