Sarai had no child and she knew the promise God made to her husband, Abram.
(NASB) Genesis 15:4 “…‘the one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir.”

What to do?  What to do?
Sarai did not become pregnant.  She blamed God!  What to do?  What to do?

Sarai came up with a plan!  Abram would have a child with Hagar, Sarai’s Egyptian maid.  Sarai went to Abram and told him her plan for him to have a son.  God’s promise would be fulfilled!

Are you frantically manipulating your circumstances for God’s word to be fulfilled in your life?

Abram agreed to the plan, he listened to his wife’s scheming.
Are you listening to a well-meaning spouse or friend’s schemes to help God fulfill His words?

Heartache, distress, harshness and chaos came into that home.  Why?  Because Sarai tried to fulfill God’s promises her way.

Where are you trying to fulfill God’s promises to you: in your home, in your job, in your social life?

What to do?  What to do?  God tells us what to do!
(NASB) Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart”
Trust is leaning your full weight on God and His faithfulness!

“And do not lean on our own understanding.”
Sarai leaned on her own understanding bringing confusion and harmful actions into her home.

(NASB) Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge Him,”
Turn to the Lord and not your own frantic ways to fulfill His words.

“And He will make your paths straight.”
If only… Sarai had trusted God’s timing.  Where do you need to trust God’s timing?

(NASB) Proverbs 3:7 “Do not be wise in your own eyes;”
Sarai’s wisdom was NOT Godly wisdom; it was worldly wisdom – to manipulate circumstances.

“Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.”
Sarai’s fear of having no child led her to evil, she was not in God’s timing.

Where do you need to turn to the Lord and reverentially fear Him above your own fears?

~ Take it to heart ~

What to do?  What to do?

(NASB) Psalm 37:5
“Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.”
