Followers of Christ have the hope of heaven.  Whether we physically die or if we are “raptured” we know we will be in heaven with our Lord and Savior, our God!

Enoch lived many hundreds of years before Noah.  He was a real man who lived in our world.

Enoch walked with God and God took him to heaven without dying.  According to Scripture, not many people experienced that.  But what a way to go to heaven!  And that will happen to many believers when the church is “raptured” and taken into heaven.

The word “rapture” is not in Scripture, but that is the term used to explain going to heaven without physically dying.

Enoch walked with God and was taken into heaven

(NASB) Genesis 5:24 “Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.”

The New Testament explains what “rapture” is…
(NASB) 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

As followers of Christ, we are to comfort one another with the fact that the “rapture” will occur.  The Lord Jesus Himself will come from heaven and call all believers to meet Him in the air.  He will not come down to stand on the earth at that time.

No matter what is going on in this world, the ugly events of hatred which seem to dominate the news – followers of Christ are to remember we are not going to spend eternity in such an environment.

Tell God the things which cause us frustration, sorrow, hurt that goes down deep into our souls.  We are to keep our focus on God our Savior, He is the One on whom we can rely to work in us… His name is Jesus!

~ Take it to heart ~

Remember: this is not our eternal home!  Christ is coming to take us into heaven.
