Adam and Eve sinned against the Lord God by disobeying His command to them. (Genesis 3:1-7)

Do we do the same?  Do we willfully disobey God’s command to us?

The Lord God judged their choices and then disciplined them.  Their disobedience had consequences.  Adam and Eve’s consequences became ours for we all sin against the holy God of the Bible.  (Romans 3:23)

What did the Lord God do which showed His mercy, love and grace to this couple?

He sacrificed an animal and covered Adam and Eve with garments of skin.  God provided an adequate covering for Adam and Eve.  They had used fig leaves but God used a sacrificial animal.

And how has the Lord God showed us His mercy, love and grace?  We are also sinners who need God’s covering and not our own inadequate covering of fig leaves.

The Lord God first promised Messiah in Genesis 3:15, immediately after the first sin.

The Lord God sent many prophets over many hundreds of years to tell of Messiah coming.  The first time He came as Savior and He will come a second time as King over all kings… forever and ever.

The Lord God provided His perfect blood sacrifice to cover our sins through the death of His only begotten Son on the cross.

(NASB) John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world (that’s you), that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever (is this you?) believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17 ‘For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”

~ Take it to heart ~

We need the covering the Lord God provides for our sins…
His name is Jesus.
