Sin – separates.

Sin separates people.

Sin separates people from God.

What happens after anyone sins?   The sense of being “dirty” after committing a sin is being exposed, being naked and… a sense of fear may be present!  Fear tries to cover-up sin with flimsy excuses or rationalization. One example – ‘somebody else made me do it.’  ‘It isn’t my fault!’  Ever hear this one?  ‘The devil made me do it.’  No, not even the power of Satan can make anyone sin against God.  Sin is a choice.

The following is a paraphrase of Genesis 3:6-8
Eve and Adam sinned against God in the Garden of Eden.  What happened after they sinned?

1- They knew the difference between good and evil – they had eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  The Lord God had told them ‘don’t do that!’
What has God warned you not to do and you did it anyway?

2- They knew they were exposed, naked – and they tried to cover themselves, with fig leaves.
What kind of leaves are you using to try to cover yourself after you knowingly sin?

3- They heard the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day – and they hid.
Where are you trying to hide from God?

Hiding from the living God is impossible.
He knows where you are.

The God of the Holy Bible pursues people with a question He asked Adam.
“Where are you?”  (Genesis 3:9)
What is your answer to God?

Adam was honest with God – from his hiding place.
(NASB) Genesis 3:10 “… ‘I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.’”

Where are you hiding from the living God?  He is calling to you, He is asking, “Where are you?”

Your sin separates you from God. God confronts sin.  He knows the sin you committed and He will not let you get away with sin.  He exposes your sin so you can recognize it, confess it and ask Him to forgive you.  Then thank Him for cleaning you up.

~ Take it to heart ~

(NASB) 1 John 1:9-10 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”

Sin – separates.

Sin separates you from people.

Sin separates you from God.

Confess and ask God’s forgiveness for your specific sin.
