Kindness of God
What does God say about being kind? How are God’s people, the followers of Christ, to respond to enemy assaults?
(NASB) Luke 6:35 “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.”
God’s kindness in action ~
(NASB) Luke 6:36 “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
What does love do?
(NASB) 1 Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,” (underlining added)
What else is love to do?
(NASB) 1 Corinthians 13:5-6 “does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;”
We are to have confidence in God’s love
(Amplified Bible) 1 Corinthians 13:7-8 “Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]… ”
~ Take it to heart ~
Being kind is a command of God!
(NASB) Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”
Being kind is being tender-hearted toward others.
Being kind forgives another.
Being kind does what God in Christ has done for me – forgiven!
Being kind forgives others.
