Dictionary definition:
Courage: “The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger with self-possession, confidence and resolution; bravery; valor.”

Your circumstances do mean you are to take courage…

Cancer or some other debilitating illness strikes, invading your body or the body of a loved one – it takes courage to “walk by faith, not by sight –” one day at a time.

With confidence in the Lord, believers throughout the world are facing danger.  They have resolution to walk by faith, with poise and self-possession – yes, even bravery and valor.

It takes courage to live by faith and not by emotions.

It takes courage to live life by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ when we are alone or when we are in a crowd.

It takes courage to live by faith as we face the next day and our hearts are broken.

It takes courage to walk by faith and not by what we are experiencing.

God tells us about such circumstances and how to deal with them.
(NASB) 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 “Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord –
7 for we walk by faith, not by sight–
8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.”

It takes courage to get our eyes, our focus or our thoughts off of immediate circumstances and lift them to the Lord.  Our hope is in Him.

How can we do this?  God says we are to walk by faith in Him and not by what we see.

~ Take it to heart ~

What conclusion can I come to in circumstances not of my choosing?

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 5:9 “Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.”

It takes courage …
for me to be pleasing to my Lord and Savior in today’s circumstances.
It is for this reason I am to walk by faith and not by what I see!
