Affliction – is being under pressure.  What are some major afflictions?  Death of a loved one, moving and relocating, changing jobs, ostracism and persecution for faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, traumatic accidents, natural disasters – what is my affliction today?

Afflictions may cause anxiety.  Our anxieties and fears are real to us.

Remember ~ Who God Is!
(NASB) 2 Corinthians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Remember ~ What God Does!
(NASB) 2 Corinthians 1:4 “who comforts us in all our affliction…”

Remember ~ God is abundant in strength and His understanding is without end.
God’s understanding is unlimited.  He knows the affliction of His people.  He does not forget us.

(NASB) Psalm 147:5 “Great is the Lord and abundant in strength;
His understanding is infinite.”

Remember my response
God’s comfort in my affliction is not to be wasted.  I am to comfort those who are under pressure of any kind.  I am to give others comfort because of God’s comfort to me.

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 1:4 “… so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Remember the truth of God’s word
God’s comfort in affliction is to be received by faith.
Followers of Christ are to live by faith in the Lord Jesus.  (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17)

~ Take it to heart ~

God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the Father of mercies.

He is God of all comfort in my life and circumstances.

He alone is trustworthy.

I am to remember the living God is my comfort in any pressures (afflictions) I have.
