(NASB) Hebrews 11:32 “And what more shall I say?  For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets.”

This devotional has separately looked at each of the men named in this verse.  Now we come to “the prophets.”  There were many prophets throughout the history of Israel.  You may recognize some of their names and some you may not.  There were also a few women known as prophetesses.

The following are many of the prophets the Lord God used to warn His people.
Elijah and Elisha – (1 Kings 17-19)IsaiahJeremiahEzekielDanielHoseaJoelAmosObadiahJonahMicahNahumHabakkukZephaniahHaggaiZechariahMalachi – Prophetesses: MiriamExodus 15:20  DeborahJudges 4:4  AnnaLuke 2:36

Men and women from different backgrounds and different periods of time, yet they all spoke God’s words.  Most prophesied of Messiah.  Time after time God promised the coming of Messiah, through His chosen prophets.

The Lord God used various people who spoke of God’s purposes and plans.  God’s plans and purposes are centered in, and revolve around Messiah…His name is Jesus.

These men and women whose faith was in God were used to speak His words.  They were faithful to speak God’s words of warning and promise.

Have you read any of God’s words spoken through the Holy Spirit and written from the pen of these people?  Some have much to say, others a few sentences…all are important, all, point to faith in what God said.

Take it to heart ~

(NASB) 2 Peter 1:20-21 “But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,
21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”

As you read God’s words to you, do you believe God?

Do you believe that what God says is important and needs to be taken to heart?
