God’s promise is a forever promise.  He does not change His mind.  God’s promise is backed up with His oath.

(NASB) Hebrews 6:13-14 “for when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,
14 saying, ‘I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.’”

Abraham patiently waited and God’s promise was fulfilled…God’s way, not Abraham’s way.  How are you trusting God and His promises to you?  Are you expecting God to answer your requests in the way you deem best?  God’s ways are so much higher, deeper and perfect.  (Hebrews 6:15)

God’s promise is backed up with His oath…and He cannot lie.
(NASB) Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

Men swear by something greater than themselves and an oath is a finality; the end of a dispute.  (Hebrews 6:16)

(NASB) Hebrews 6:17-18 “In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath,
18 so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.”

Good news!  Followers of Christ are also “the heirs of the promise” by God’s oath and God’s purpose is unchangeable!

Remember: God cannot lie!

God does not deceive you and me; He is not false, nor hypocritical.  It is safe to run to Him in prayer and depend on Him in our circumstances.  He is our refuge.  We are to hold on tight to the hope He gives us.

God’s unchangeable purpose is assured because He backs it up with His promise and oath.  We are to take refuge in Him and be strongly encouraged as we face the challenges and opportunities God gives us.

“…take hold of the hope set before us”
…for that hope is our God and His purpose is unchangeable.
