Has there been a time in your life when you realized, ‘Hey, I need to grow up?’

God speaks to His people and He doesn’t mess around with being politically correct. He is always loving and compassionate; yet He is, at the same time, firm.  Sometimes we don’t want to face God because that may mean we need to make a change in our thinking or outlook.  Consider the following Scriptures and come to your own conclusions.

(NASB) Hebrews 5:11 “Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.”

Splutter, fuss and fume, consternation!  What does God mean, “become dull of hearing”?  You may think, ‘There is nothing wrong with my hearing!’  You may hear, but God states we are slow to learn and slow to understand His spiritual truths.

(NASB) Hebrews 5:12 “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.”

What does God want you and me to know from these verses?  All of us begin as newborn babies in Christ Jesus when we receive Him by faith.  We are not to remain a baby Christian…we are to grow and mature in our faith.  It’s time to grow up!

(NASB) Hebrews 5:13 “For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.”

God provides the means to grow and mature in our faith.  Bible studies, reading and studying His word (the Holy Bible)…are ways we grow in trusting our God.  Growth in faith is a continual learning process.  His words are facts which we trust and put into practice.  As we grow, we realize that what God says – will happen.

It’s time to grow up (your name)!
I am not to be content with being a baby Christian.  I should not be content with spoon feeding and drinking milk from a bottle…that is what babies do.
It’s time to grow up!

How are we to grow up?  How are we to tell the difference between good and evil?  Hebrews 5:14 “But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.”

For those of you who are parents, you expect your child(ren) to grow up and mature.  You do not want them to remain babies…

Isn’t that like God our Father…He doesn’t want us to remain infants.

It really is time for you and me to grow up!
