Paul headed toward Jerusalem; he was warned repeatedly, by the Holy Spirit through followers of Christ, that bad things were going to happen to him.
Paul did not waver or procrastinate…he went forward…

(NASB) Acts 20:22-24 “…‘I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,
23 except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.
24 ‘But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.”

As Paul was going to Jerusalem, the group of men going with him grew in number.  (Acts 21:15-16)

Paul’s focus was on the living God.  He went to Jerusalem knowing that bad things awaited him.  He went to Jerusalem knowing that is where God wanted him.

Later Paul would write to Timothy:
(NASB) 2 Timothy 1:12 “…‘I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.”

After Paul arrived in Jerusalem, he met with James and the leaders in the church.  He told of the things God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. (Acts 21:17-19)

God grew the numbers of people who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.  He continues to do that throughout the world today.  In Paul’s day, Asia and Europe heard the good news of Jesus Christ, His life, death and resurrection – Jesus the sacrificial Lamb on the cross for them.

Paul’s mind-set: obedience to God and His call on his life.  Paul was called to tell Gentiles of the Lord Jesus.
What is your mind-set?  Do you want to “see” where God is leading you before you step out to follow Him?

There was a cost, a sacrificial cost, for Paul. There will always be a sacrificial cost for us when we follow our Savior and Lord.  Jesus said so.

(NASB) Luke 9:23 “…‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.’”

Paul lived a sacrificial life as he traveled from region to region, establishing and nurturing believers in Jesus Christ.  Sacrificial living and following Jesus will always mean a cross, a cross where we die to self.  Paul learned that lesson well.  His letters prove it.  Are you living such a life?

Paul told individuals like you of Jesus Christ.  You are either a person whom the Lord Jesus is seeking or you have responded to the invitation to receive the gift of life.  Is your faith in God?  Knowing He alone can give you the gift of life?  Have you received this incredible gift by believing in the living Lord Jesus?
