Scripture gives the names of five men in the church at Antioch, men who were prophets and teachers.  Five men committed to the living Lord Jesus Christ.  Men who were respected, full of the Holy Spirit, five men who were of importance to the church in Antioch.

Those five men were: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been raised up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.  (Acts 13:1)
These five men had come together to minister to the Lord and to fast.  During that time the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”  (NASBActs 13:2)

Five men…five godly men and two were singled out by the Holy Spirit of God.  Three of those men were not called to other places, they were to remain in Antioch and minister to the Lord and the people in that church.  That too, was an important work.
Five men, fasting and praying…three men laid their hands of consecration on the two called by the Holy Spirit and sent them away.  (Acts 13:3)

Five men committed to the Lord and His leading through His Holy Spirit.  What a blessed congregation to have such men leading them.  They were prophets and teachers of the word of God.  They were listening for the Lord’s leading…are you making yourself available to the Lord?  Are you seeking His leading for you and the leaders in your church?

Five men set aside time to fast and pray…seeking the Lord’s leadership and direction.
How do you seek the Lord’s direction for yourself and/or the ministry to which He calls you?

How do you find out God’s itinerary for you and your church?

Five men, and all were important in God’s eyes.  Three stayed in Antioch and two were sent out.
Scripture does not say what those three did in Antioch, but we do know that the church  flourished and was an important point-of-contact for Barnabas and Saul, who were sent out.

Five men ~ called to do different branches of ministry.  Two sent out as missionaries and three to stay the course in Antioch.  Where is the Lord leading you, to go…or to stay?

Praying and fasting to know God’s leading is of utmost importance.

With whom do you need to pray and fast…to find God’s leading?
