Abundant life comes at a price.  In John 10:10 Jesus tells His disciples that He came to give us a full life, an abundant life.  Jesus compared the abundant life He gives to a thief who comes to steal and destroy.  The contrast is stark and, on the surface, looks to be a comparison between good and evil.  In fact, it is that but so much more.  We can experience that abundant life from Christ all of the time, in the hard times as well as the good times in life.  But, the abundant life has a price of total trust; in Jesus and in what He says He will do. 

  Life to the full requires complete trust in Christ.  It is difficult to imagine the infinite because we are finite.  But, God in His infinite wisdom gives us infinitely more than we can ever imagine. 

  The apostle Paul, on his knees, prayed for the follower of Christ to grab hold of all God makes available because Paul understood the depths of God’s power and love.
(NIV) Ephesians 3:16-19 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” 

This is the definition of the abundant life.  Life…to the full.
