A New Year!  Filled with potential!  Filled with the unknown.

God provides us with the opportunity to live life to the full giving us all of Himself in all areas and at all times in our lives.

The Cup vs. The Tree
The cup that “runneth over” is really like our prayers.  We ask God for specific amounts of His grace, mercy, power, glory, love, peace, joy, etc.  Many times we ask for what we can understand and limit our concept of God’s unlimited gifts.  God is faithful and pours His unlimited gifts into us until we are overflowing with Him.  However, the cup is limited in how much it can hold and needs to be refilled continually to remain full.

But consider the ocean and the seemingly unlimited amounts of water it holds.  Miles deep and miles wide, it constantly moves toward the tree planted on the banks of the water.  It is always accessible.  God promises He is always there.
(NIV) Hebrews 13:5 “…Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

God makes available all that we need, all of the time.  In 1 Corinthians, God tells us He will provide for us in the midst of temptation.
(NIV) 1 Corinthians 10:13 “…‘And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”

Moreover, He tells us He gives us just what we need at just the right time.
(NIV) 2 Corinthians 12:9 “…‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”

Sufficiency is supplied by the water flowing by the tree, allowing the tree to take ALL that it needs for an abundant life ALL of the time.  An abundance of water (God’s power, peace, joy, etc.) available to us all the time.

Go forth with confidence into the unknown of 2015 because of God’s sufficiency!

The Sufficiency of God

Available to you and available for you in 2015
