Jesus said to Simon Peter as they reclined around the Passover table:
(NASB) Luke 22:31-32 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;
32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.’”

Satan’s Part:
  Satan had demanded God’s permission to sift Simon Peter as if he were wheat in a sieve.  Simon Peter’s faith was to be agitated and proven by trials and afflictions.
  Satan had asked God’s permission, why?  Because Satan does not have the power or authority to do anything.  Satan must yield to God, for God is All-Powerful (Omnipotent).  (Compare Job 1:6-12)
  Satan is God’s “hostile opponent”.
  Satan must submit to God.

Jesus’ Part:
  Jesus’ power and authority are over Satan’s power.
  Jesus knows your trials, your temptations, your testing which comes from Satan.
  Jesus prayed for Simon Peter’s faith not to fail.  And after Peter had turned to God again, he was to strengthen his brothers in the faith.
  Since Jesus prayed for Simon Peter in such a way, don’t you think you also are being prayed for by Jesus?  You are that important to the Lord Jesus Christ.  He died for Simon Peter’s sins and He died for your sins and mine.

  Remember: God knows what you are facing and you are loved by Him!  Turn to Him for He cares for you!  He said so!
 (NASB) 1 Peter 5:6-11 “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,
7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert.  Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
11 To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
