As Jesus talked with His disciples at the Passover meal, among other things He said,
(NASB) Luke 22:28-30 “You (the disciples) are those who have stood by Me in My trials;
29 and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you
30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

  Jesus commended His chosen disciples for standing by Him.  Interesting – I always want Jesus to stand by me in my trials – would He say that of you and me?  He/she has “stood by Me in My trials.”
  Jesus also said that His Father had given Him a kingdom – and in the book of Revelation we can know that when Jesus comes again, He will come as King over all kings, presidents and potentates!

  Jesus, as King, has the right to grant whatever He wants to whomever He wants.  He granted those men sitting around that Passover table the right to eat and drink at His table in His kingdom.
  He even told them what they would do – they would each sit on a throne and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.
  Jesus gave His disciples a hope of the far distant future – they had been arguing who was regarded as greater.
  (Luke 22:24)

They would be equally honored, they would have equal responsibilities and they would be regarded equally!
  So not one of them could “lord” it over any of the others sitting there that night.
  How do you think of yourself?  Do you think of yourself better than another?

Listen to Jesus.
