Jesus and His twelve disciples were eating a meal together, a Passover meal in an undisclosed location.  It was a private supper.  Betrayal was afoot.  And eleven of those men were clueless!  They had no idea of the treachery of Judas Iscariot.  They did not know that Judas had agreed to betray Jesus.  But Jesus knew!  He was not deceived.
Nor is Jesus deceived by you and me as we say one thing and have hidden agendas, hidden motives for our words and actions.
Judas, did he think he was undetected by Jesus, the Son of God?   Do we think we are undetected when we do not choose to put Jesus first in our lives?

How can we know that Jesus knew of Judas’ betrayal?
(NIV) John 13:18 “I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen.  But this is to fulfill the scripture: ‘He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.’
19‘I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am He.”

The following is a paraphrase of John 13:21-30.
Jesus was troubled, deeply troubled and told the twelve men, ‘One of you sitting at this table will betray Me.’ The men looked at one another; they had no idea what He was talking about.

One of the men sitting next to Jesus was asked by Peter further down the table, ‘Ask Him who He means.’  So John did, he turned and asked Jesus, ‘Who is it?’  Then Jesus said, the one I give this bite of bread to is the man.  Then Jesus dipped the bite into a sauce and handed it to Judas Iscariot.

Then Scripture states “After the morsel, Satan then entered into him.  Therefore Jesus said to him, ‘What you do, do quickly.’”(John 13:27)
The eleven heard these words and thought that Jesus was telling Judas to buy what was needed for the feast because Judas was the treasurer of this group.  Or perhaps Jesus was telling Judas to go out and give to the poor.  They didn’t know that Jesus was telling Judas to complete the betrayal!  And Judas left.

What was Judas thinking?!  Did he believe that he was undetected by Jesus?  Did he believe that his actions would force Jesus to declares Himself king?  No one really knows what Judas’ thoughts were as he left to betray Jesus to the religious leaders.

What do we know about Jesus in our lives?  He is not deceived; He does not have blinders on about our motives and our thoughts.  He knows!
We need to be honest as we confess our sins to God.
Next we need to repent, turning away from the pettiness and having ulterior motives of promoting ourselves.
Then turn to our Lord Jesus because He is our Savior, our Redeemer.  For the thoughts of God, His plans are to be yielded to – for He is God!

Jesus knows ~ you!  Jesus is not deceived!  And still, He loves you!  Amazing isn’t it?
