Jesus finished washing the feet of each of His disciples…they ate the Passover meal and as they were eating Jesus instituted the communion supper among believers.
(Luke 22:14-20)

Betrayal…is devastating, always.  And how did Jesus deal with the knowledge of His betrayer?
(NASB) Luke 22:21 “But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.
22 ‘For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!’
23 And they began to discuss among themselves which one of them it might be who was going to do this thing.”

Jesus knew who His betrayer was.  He knew that prophecy concerning His betrayer. (Psalm 41:9)

Jesus warned His betrayer, right then, and gave him another opportunity to repent and turn to Him for forgiveness.  But Judas Iscariot kept silent.
The other eleven disciples could not imagine which one of their group would do such a thing.  They had been together about three years, they knew each other.  They had heard the teachings of Jesus; they had seen Him heal many people of all kinds of physical ailments.  They knew of His love for each one of them – who would betray Jesus?! Can you imagine the consternation among those men?

Andrew, Peter, John, James, Philip, Nathanael, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus, Simon the Zealot, Judas Iscariot.  Twelve men who had been hand-picked by Jesus…and one of them would betray Him.

Whenever the twelve disciples are named, Judas Iscariot is always listed last and always has the identifying words (“who betrayed Him”).
That is how Judas Iscariot is remembered…how do you want to be remembered?

The eleven men loved the Lord Jesus and are remembered because they chose to believe Jesus and what He said.
Did they understand everything He said?  I don’t believe so.  The time would come when it would be made plain to them, after His death and resurrection.  Their faith was well placed.

How do you want to be remembered?  Are you choosing to believe Jesus, to follow Him in this day – that’s faith!  And by putting your love for Him into action – that’s obedience!

One disciple chose to betray Jesus.  Eleven chose to believe in Jesus.
  What do you choose?
