Betrayal: To give aid or information to an enemy of; commit treason against or be a traitor to; Break faith; Disloyal

Betrayal always has consequences, serious consequences.  It is heartbreaking when a person who is in the “inner circle” breaks faith with those who trust him/her.

What drives a person to betray another, to betray a “friend”, a company or a country?
Betrayal is disloyalty to others who trust them.
Betrayal seeks the opposition and/or seeks to undermine the one being betrayed.

Have you ever been betrayed?  It hurts!  Even though Jesus knew He would be betrayed (it was prophesied in Psalm 41:9; Psalm 55:12-14) oh, how it must have hurt.

(NASB) Luke 22:3-6 “And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.
4 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them.
5 They were glad and agreed to give him money.
6 So he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him to them apart from the crowd.”

Betrayal “switches” sides.  Betrayal demands compensation for breaking faith and being disloyal.  Betrayal attempts to “bring down” the one being betrayed.  And many times betrayal works!  Careers, ministries, national security is damaged.

What can the followers of Christ do when betrayed and taken from a ministry or a career?
Always, always turn to the living God!  Cry out to Him and yield to God’s will and way in what seems catastrophic consequences of betrayal.

Betrayal can be used by God to grow and mature the one who has been betrayed.  Faith in the living God of the Holy Bible is crucial.  Turn to God – He knows – He understands your deep hurt – He has been there and done that!

(NASB) Psalm 46:1-2 “God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear…”
