Jesus was going daily to the temple to teach.  People were coming in the early morning hours to listen.
During those days before Passover, what was going on behind closed doors?

(NASB) Luke 22:1-2 “NOW THE Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.
2 The chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.”

Jesus had been loudly acclaimed by the crowds on the first day of that week as He had ridden into Jerusalem on a donkey.  And the religious leaders feared the crowds.

What was going on behind closed doors as Jesus was openly teaching in the temple area?  The people were eagerly listening to this popular Teacher and how frustrating that must have been to these men who were plotting His death!

As the clandestine meetings were being held they must have put the word out, there was a monetary reward for anyone who would lead them to Jesus without interference from the crowds.  They had tried to shame Jesus; they had publicly tried to “trip Him up” with questions meant to entrap Him.  And they had failed, miserably.  Who knows where Jesus would go after Passover?  They needed to “get” Him, soon!

Behind closed doors these men plotted to kill Jesus.  Behind closed doors these men were thwarted by God’s plan, His perfect plan of redemption which would come only through His Son, His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ.  Only in God’s perfect timing and God’s perfect plan would these religious leaders seem to get their way.

When people seem to be getting their hidden agendas accomplished behind closed doors…how frustrating it is to those who bear the brunt of those decisions.

Followers of Christ…we are not to forget our God is God!  He is our refuge!  He is our strength!  Our God is “A very present help in trouble.”  For this reason – “we will not fear.”  If you haven’t prayerfully read Psalm 46 recently…do.

There is nothing to fear, even when people in powerful positions meet behind closed doors, because we are in God’s strong hold!  He holds His people in His hands of strength and nothing can take us from Him!
