(NASB) Luke 21:37-38 “Now during the day He (Jesus) was teaching in the temple, but at evening He would go out and spend the night on the mount that is called Olivet.
38 And all the people would get up early in the morning to come to Him in the temple to listen to Him.”

Jesus taught early in the morning and the people came to the temple to listen.
Have you ever considered the cost to teachers and to students?

Teachers – teaching God’s word
They expend emotional energy and time for the people they teach.  The people who come have needs, real needs that only our God can meet satisfactorily.
They expend time to prepare to teach, it takes x amount of hours to teach for one hour.
They expend time alone: in prayer to God, preparation for teaching and pleasing God by doing what He has called them to do.

Students – of God’s word
They take time to be where the words of God are taught.
They take time to listen with their minds, their emotions and their wills.
With the mind: learning and increasing in knowledge of God
With the emotions: being engaged with their whole being
With the will: choosing to believe what God says is truth

Whether you are a teacher or a student –
Time is needed to be on time to be taught by God.
Time is needed to listen, to really listen to what God teaches through His word.
There will always be a cost involved for the teacher and the student.

God’s word convicts, we are convinced we need to be changed in how we think, what words we speak and what our actions show others.  Our motives, are they in line with God’s truth?  As we study God’s word, there will be a cost involved.

Jesus spent His nights on the Mount of Olives during that Passover week.  We can surmise that He spent time in prayer to His Father.
When you and I spend time in prayer to the living God, there is a peace, a rest which comes from being consciously in the presence of our God.

Whether you are a teacher of God’s word or a student…remember: all of us are students under the Master Teacher, Jesus.
