Prophecies of Messiah
Prophecy: First Advent: Isaiah 7:14 foretold of a virgin giving birth to Messiah. His name would be called Immanuel (God with us).
Prophecy fulfilled: First Advent:
Jesus came into this world as a baby born in Bethlehem…and yesterday His birth was celebrated by Christians…Luke 2:1-7
Jesus came to save His people from their sins…Matthew 1:21
Jesus did just that when He died on the cross, taking my sins and yours as if they were His sins. That sacrifice was accepted by God and the proof is the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.
Prophecy: The Advents of Messiah: Isaiah 9:6 is a two-fold prophecy of the first and second advents of Jesus Christ, Messiah!
Prophecy: First Advent: (NASB) Isaiah 9:6 “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us…”
Prophecy fulfilled: First Advent: Jesus was born and God the Father gave His Son to us. It is astounding and amazing that the living God would give His Son to you and me.
Prophecy: Second Advent: (NASB) Isaiah 9:6 “…And the government will rest on His shoulders…”
Prophecy not yet fulfilled: Second Advent: Jesus will come again to govern the world…He is coming as King over all kings…
What does God say about the name of Messiah?
(NASB) Isaiah 9:6 “…And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”
Wonderful Counselor = God the Holy Spirit given to all who know Jesus as their Savior – the Spirit of truth! (John 14:16-17)
Mighty God = The Triune God evidenced at the baptism of Jesus – God the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus – God the Son, in the form of a dove; God the Father spoke from heaven “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:21-22)
Eternal Father = God the Father
Prince of Peace = Jesus is the Prince of Peace…He was sent to make peace between you and God…through His suffering and death with His resurrection verifying that transaction.
This Messiah is for everyone who asks Him into their life…who agrees with God’s word that they are a sinner in need of being saved from their sins. Have you done this?
It has been said not to waste a catastrophe…it is a catastrophe if Jesus is not asked to be your Savior, your Redeemer.
The prophecies of Messiah are true…they are real and one has already taken place…the other will take place! Are you celebrating this Christmas season with joy because you are included in the family of God with Jesus as your Savior, your Redeemer?
