What did the shepherds celebrate?
They celebrated the birth of Messiah!

The Birth of Jesus:
  Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, there were no rooms to be found…so they took what was available…a stable with straw and animals…what a place to give birth to the Son of God!  After baby Jesus was born…He was laid in a manger for His cradle.  An animal’s feeding trough was good enough for the Son of God!  (Luke 2:1-7)

The Birth Announcement of Jesus:
  Out in the fields keeping watch over flocks of sheep, shepherds were amazed at the bright light which filled the sky…the words of an angel from God spoken to them…the angelic choir of the heavenly host.  Talk about astounding surround sound of praise which filled the night skies. (NIV Luke 2:8-14)  “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

The Belief of the shepherds:
  Those shepherds believed what the angel told them…(NASB) Luke 2:10-12 “…Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12 ‘This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

  Those shepherds went to “see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.”  (Luke 2:15
