Jesus talked with His disciples in a crowd of thousands (Luke 12:1).
(NASB) Luke 12:50 “But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!”

Jesus was urged on, compelled, to accomplish that for which His Father had sent Him.

Jesus said He was distressed until His baptism was done!  He had been baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River, but He was not referring to that baptism. (Luke 3:21-22)

Jesus knew what the baptism would be – Mark 10:38 – it would be a baptism of suffering and death on a cross.

Jesus was distressed, urged on, compelled to complete what He had come to do.  He never said He was depressed by the thought, or dreaded it or doubted what He had to do.  He knew what He would do!

Jesus knew what awaited Him: Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53 and other places in the Old Testament foretell His suffering on the cross.  He told His disciples, repeatedly, that He was going to Jerusalem to suffer, die and that He would be raised to life after three days (Matthew 16:21; Mark 8:31; Luke 9:22)

What a blessed Savior all followers of Christ have!  He accomplished the defeat of death, your sins and mine, and Satan on the cross…proof?  He rose from the dead!  He is physically alive right this moment in heaven.  And ~ He is coming again for all to see!

When you face difficult and perhaps deadly circumstances…what can you know?  Jesus has been there, He has done that ~ for you!  Jesus knows what you are going through physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually.  How did He accomplish your freedom from your sins?  He yielded to His Father’s will, consciously in the Garden of Gethsemane before His arrest.
(NASB) Matthew 26:42 “…‘My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.’”

Jesus yielded in obedience to drink the cup which His Father gave Him.
Jesus was not a victim of His circumstances…He was an obedient Son of God and He accomplished our redemption through what He suffered.
(NASB) Hebrews 5:8-9 “Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.
9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation…”

What Jesus knew: He knew how He would accomplish your salvation…have you received it?  Are you living as if you have been bought by His ultimate price which He paid on the cross?

If you are a follower of Christ…do others know you are by your life and by your words?
